Dear Friends, You have been missed! This has been the most unusual year ever, with the Covid-19 pandemic beginning in March. A world without singing has been difficult to say the least, and choral performances have been sorely lacking everywhere! It is my hope and my prayer that you and those you love have stayed healthy during these months and that we will resume singing someday in the not too distant future.
To that end, a tentative plan at this time is for Finger Lakes Choral Festival to present Beethoven’s “Mass in C” on July 25th, 2021. We are working on logistics - rehearsal space, concert venue(s), details of the program, and much more. No one knows for sure what 2021 will look like for choral groups in our state and in the country, indeed in the world! We can only hope for the best in all walks of life and that this virus will be under control for everyone.
Time will tell! As details become better known and as definite as they can be, more news will be sent your way. Hoping you will spend an enjoyable fall! Please take good care and stay safe and well.
Peace,
Sandy Moncrief

Ludwig van Beethoven composed the Mass in C major, Op. 86, upon commission from Prince Nikolaus Esterházy II in 1807. The mass, scored for four vocal soloists, choir and orchestra, was premiered that year by the Prince's musical forces in Eisenstadt. The contemporary critic E. T. A. Hoffmann appreciated the "expression of a childlike serene mind". It's a thrilling, beautiful and memorable artwork to perform.
The concert date is July 25, 2021. Details to follow shortly!
