2018 CHORAL FESTIVAL – The
monumental REQUIEM, Op. 5, of Hector Berlioz,
will be performed on Sunday, July 29, 4 PM, at Hochstein Performance
Hall in Rochester. Admission to the concert is free.
After 15 successful years, we honor Founding Director, Adrian
Horn, with a performance of the piece to which he has dedicated decades of passionate scholarship, study and performance,
in his own choral edition featuring a part for altos, in its most recent revision. Thanks to Andy, this piece has become feasible
for major symphonic choruses across the country, and several have now added it to their repertoire.
It's no small accomplishment
for any choral festival to mount this work! For FLCF, it will be the fourth time in 15 years. Eric Townell, Artistic Director
of the Rochester Oratorio Society, returns to FLCF as guest conductor this summer. Also returing are Ines Draskovic, accompanist,
our friend and Board member, Dan McInerney, tenor soloist, and the phenomenal Penfield Symphony Orchestra, with whom we enjoy
a rewarding partnership.
Returning members and new singers are always welcome! If you have friends who love to sing
and would enjoy performing this major masterwork, please invite them to join us.
Hochstein Performance Hall is at 50 North Plymouth Avenue, Rochester. Doors open 45 minutes before concert time. We expect
a large audience, and there is open seating, so it is recommended that you arrive early.
